ABOUT

IMG_4555 copy.jpeg

Connie Scanlon evolved into an artist because of luck and love. Sometimes you just know when it feels right; you are meant for that adventure and need to simply go ahead and "give it a whirl."

Trained as a cardiac intensive care nurse, she now uses her critical skills of observation to create contemporary botanical art. Her passion is painting with watercolor on Kelmscott vellum, which she likens to ice skating. "The goal is simply to stay up on the surface and not fall through."

An early dream of getting into the Annual Juried International exhibitions in New York was realized in 2014, and she is forever grateful that it was not a once in a lifetime experience - even though she will laughingly admit that her three children are truly her favorite "masterpieces." She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists in London. She was honored to receive the Diane Bouchier Artist Award for Excellence in Botanical Art from the American Society of Botanical Artists in 2023.

She and her husband Jack live in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
